Jay Martin is a retired Deputy Sheriff after 18 years of service in Colorado, current public-school teacher in Nebraska, and Director of Training & Curriculum with the non-profit Digital Futures Initiative (DFi). In 2009, he was D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year in Colorado, however, the same year he was tasked by the Sheriff of Douglas County to aid in creating a program beyond substance abuse to include digital technology. The program received national recognition in 2012 & 2017. By 2017 hundreds of instructors in all 50 states adopted the curriculum, resources, and began teaching the variety of programs. Jay has spoken at many national conferences, written curriculum for the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), & now leads the development & instruction for all DFi's evidence-based educational strategies.
