Polydrug Use and Its Impact on Safe Communities – More Is Not Better!

Significant attention is given to alcohol and its misuse and abuse in our communities and especially on our nation’s roadways. But many practitioners are increasingly seeing polydrug usage in impaired driving incidents and other areas within our communities. The widespread legalization and decriminalization of cannabis and other drugs requires more proactive measures to address polydrug use and impairment along with an understanding that “more is not better” as it relates to drug and alcohol usage. In this presentation, attendees will learn about the detection of non-alcohol drugs and drug combinations and the challenges multi-substance use can create. Attendees will also learn how these challenges can be used to develop proactive measures to reduce impaired driving events and make our communities safer.
