Lieutenant Hayes will provide an overview of fentanyl and synthetic opioids. This discussion will include the different types and analogs associated with each. Hayes will also explain how fentanyl and these other opioids have come to the United States as well as other countries. Pictures of different forms of fentanyl will be projected and fentanyl in a variety of different drugs will be analyzed. Hayes will also explain the different ingestion methods and the signs and symptoms associated with these types of drugs. Hayes will dive deeper into details regarding withdrawal, Suboxone, overdose and Narcan. He will also share statistics, anecdotal stories about celebrities that have overdosed on fentanyl, and details about mass overdose events. Lastly, the presenter will reveal the role social media plays in drug abuse and kids’ lives.
