MEDIA, MESSAGES, AND MANIPULATION
Cool. Sexy. Harmless. And above all, necessary for fun. These are the messages our youth receive about alcohol from our mass media. In this workshop, participants will examine and critically deconstruct media messages, learning and identifying the tools of persuasion employed by the alcohol industry to seduce teens into becoming young drinkers. This workshop is for parents, coalition members, officers, educators, and anyone with an interest in understanding the industry that uses lies and emotional manipulation to score profit. You will never look at beer ads the same way again..!
